Brian Dudley of The Seattle Times, March 6, 2024, argues that the move by Report for America will only hurt local reporting as the chains serve vast numbers across America. Dudley said the newspapers affected still do important work as evidenced by the Chicago Tribune’s investigation of imperfect state laws and regulation that allowed health care workers accused of abusing patients to stay on the job.
