Watch: Unlocking Public Records in California

For this October 26 training session, FAC’s open-government experts focused educating journalists on using the California Public Records Act to tell important stories. The training offers tips and tricks for overcoming barriers to information.

The session featured Omar Rashad, government accountability reporter for Fresnoland, who shared insights on how to use public records to tell stories through an equity lens. Rashad was joined by the First Amendment Coalition’s legal director, David Loy, and advocacy director Ginny LaRoe.

The webinar was presented by Bay City News Foundation, California Black Media, Ethnic Media Services, the First Amendment Coalition, Sacramento Press Club, and the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, with support from the Society of Professional Journalists Foundation.
