Free speech squeezed out of political conventions and London Olympics

Expect to see free speech severely restricted at the U.S. political conventions and at the London Olympics, writes Dahlia Lithwick in Slate. Before the Olympics, the U.K. passed a number of laws limited free speech including bans on spectator recordings of Olympic events.

Afraid protests will disrupt the Republican convention in late August, Tampa has place a number of restrictions on demonstrations and marches, including a ban on water guns. Real guns are permitted for those with concealed weapons permits. -db
