Federal court deals blow to law restricting use of videos from the floor of the California state Assembly

A federal district judge in California granted a preliminary injunction on enforcing a ban on the use of video from the state Assembly for political advertising. The ruling allows the Firearms Policy Coalition to use Assembly footage for ads against a proposed ballot initiative tightening California’s gun laws. A&A: Police say daily crime logs can’t be released to the public

Q: I have been seeking release of daily crime logs through the Police Department, preferably the day they are issued. The log is maintained by a patrol officer for 24-hour periods between 4 a.m. and 4 a.m. and through CPRA request have successfully obtained past logs electronically in .doc or .pdf format. However, the department Public Information Officer (PIO )has refused to provide the daily log when requested claiming they need to be double-checked for accuracy
