Investigations seek to shore up whistleblower protections in intelligence community

The chief watchdog for the National Security Agency (NSA) lost his job for retaliating against a whistleblower. In a related matter, Congress ordered its watchdog agency to investigated treatment of whistleblowers in the Pentagon. There are concerns about the Pentagon’s handing of the case of senior NSA official Thomas Drake who expressed concerns about misconduct and waste before going to journalists. Drake lost his job.
