Journalists are not doing enough to protect their data and confidential sources, writes Sherry Ricchiardi for the American Journalism Review. Ricchiardi says antagonists can use malware to invade a reporter’s computer to identify sources, gather information and steal passwords. With few reporters using even easily obtainable secure-communication tools, they need to step up to protect sources and information from intelligence agencies, terrorists and criminals. -db
