U.S. government subpoenas Twitter accounts for WikiLeaks and associates

The U.S. government has begun a criminal investigation of WikiLeaks for releasing thousands of classified documents pertaining to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The Attorney General issued subpoenas for the Twitter accounts of people linked to WikiLeaks including its founder, Julian Assange. -db

  • This is what most people feared would happen – a government using its power to mount an attack on the Freedom of Media and to force Twitter to disclose its archives relating to its users. It bodes ill for all and worse it sets a precedent for future governments.
