Reporters vexed by missing presidential press conference

While acknowledging the Biden administration’s respect for the press, reporters are increasingly upset with the failure of President Joe Biden to hold a formal news conference. Even Trump provided a conference by his time in his administration. (Vanity Fair, March 8, 2021, by Charlotte Klein)

The Editorial Board of The Washington Post, March 7, 2021, praises Biden for bringing back daily briefings, telling the truth and giving TV and print interviews, but said there is a glaring need for in-depth news conferences so reporters can probe and ask follow-up questions on a range of topics. They conclude, “Mr. Biden should be eager to advertise his more thoughtful, reality-based approach. He should do so in front of reporters, for extended periods of time, and more often than his late start would suggest.”
