Lack of transparency hurting candidates but maybe Clinton more than Trump

Starting with failure to disclose health records, presidential candidates have not been forthcoming with the electorate. Trump refuses to release his tax returns and both Clinton and Trump have rejected the traditional arrangement of traveling with a poll of reporters. (CNN, September 13, 2016, by Stephen Collinson)

Clinton appears to be suffering more from her lack of transparency most recently over her failure to disclose her coming down with pneumonia. Her failure to disclose her illness raised further questions about her health and what else she might be withholding. NBC’s morning briefing First Read pointed out that covering up the pneumonia was clumsy and harmful to Clinton’s credibility but asserted that Trump is the “least transparent presidential nominee in modern times.” (NBC News, September 12, 2016, by Chuck Todd, Mark Murray and Carrie Dann)
