Facebook accused of censoring conservative perspectives

Former Facebook workers say that the company suppressed news stories that would have appealed to conservative readers, excluding them from the network’s trending news section. The workers were asked to put less popular stories up thus imposing “human editorial values” in violation of company claims that the trending copies were determined by algorithm as the most popular on Facebook.  (Gizmodo, May 9, 2016, by Michael Nunez)

Facebook denied the Gizmodo report that they censored conservative stories by saying that some workers may have censured stories from right wing sources but that there was no list of banned news outlets and no policy that supported the suppression of political viewpoints.
