Associated Press accused of collaborating with Nazis

A German historian claims in an academic journal that the Associated Press made a deal with Hitler to print information produced by the Nazi propaganda ministry. AP was able to continue to operate in Germany after other news services and newspapers were forced to shut down. AP closed in 1941 when the United States entered the war. The Associated Press denied that they cooperated with the Nazis. The historian, Harriet Scharnberg wrote that the AP censored details of Nazi violence and allowed AP photos to be used in Nazi anti-Semitic propaganda. AP claims that Scharnberg’s research focuses on a German photo agency, a subsidiary of AP Britain that came under Nazi control.  (CNN, March 30, 206, by Tom Kludt)
