Federal open record lawsuits increase

A university clearinghouse determined that there was a record number of lawsuits over public records requests in 2015. Almost 500 lawsuits were filed under the federal Freedom of Information Act, 77 more than were filed in 2014.  (Courthouse News Service, January 6, 2016, by Kevin Lessmiller)

The clearinghouse said that the numbers don’t necessarily indicate that there was less transparency under Obama, but his administration has clearly failed to live up to his pledge to make his administration a pillar of transparency. (The Daily Caller, January 6, 2016, by Mark Tapscott)
