Identities of pepper-spraying officers public information

The press won the right to the names of the University of California Davis police officers who pepper-sprayed protesting students in 2011. The UC police officers union may appeal the ruling to the state Supreme Court. (Los Angeles Times, July 23, 2013, by Larry Gordon)

The judge for the First District Court of Appeal said that there were no exemptions in the  California Public Records Act to prevent the publication of the offiers’ names.
