Pentagon must yield records on deaths of soldiers wearing armor

A federal district judge ordered the Pentagon to release bullet wound records of soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan to a veteran investigating the inadequacy of body armor. The veteran had requested autopsy  files and body armor description sheets under the Freedom of Information Act but was rebuffed by the Pentagon who cited FOIA exceptions. In releasing the records, the judge said there is “a significant public interest in disclosure.” Former Marine Roger Charles now editor of Defense Watch, a publication of the Soldiers for the Truth Foundation, wants to analyze the connection between body armor and deadly injuries to the torso.
