Free speech: Federal appeals allows judicial endorsements in Montana

A federal appeals court struck down Montana’s ban on endorsements by political parties of candidates in the state’s nonpartisan judicial elections.

The majority opinion stated: “… Political speech, including the endorsement of candidates for office, is at the core of speech protected by the First Amendment.” -db
