California legislature rejects Brown Act exemption

The California state senate rejected a bill pushed by the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors to make an exemption in the open meeting act allowing closed door sessions on matters of public safety.

The Supervisors were challenged by open government forces for meeting with Governor Jerry Brown this year over the shift of responsibility for paying for security from the state to local governments. -db
