Former federal classification boss criticizes over-classification

J. William Leonard, a former director of the Information Security Oversight Office, was scheduled to testify in a dismissed government espionage case against a former National Security Agency official with critical statements about the government’s excessive classification of information.

Leonard said the government had lost its ability to distinguish trivial information from information that could seriously compromise the nation’s security. -db
