Cigarette labels: Federal judge says warning okay but no scaring allowed

A federal judge ruled that the government can require cigarette manufacturers to print warnings on their packages but do not have to print graphic and grotesque images as part of the warnings.

The judge said that the graphic images would constitute a forced message that infringed on the tobacco companies’ First Amendment rights. -db
