Ninth circuit federal appeals court to live stream en banc hearings

The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals announced plans to broadcast its en blanc hearings live on the Internet, about 20 cases a year. The court said it was making the move to make its proceedings “more accessible and transparent.” (San Jose Mercury News, November 2, 2013, by Associated Press)

The live streaming will begin on Monday, December 9 allowing the public to go onto www.ca9.uscourts.gov and click “En Banc Video Streaming” to view the hearing. There has been broadcast and cable coverage of the Ninth Circuit before, but this is the first time a federal appeals court has live streamed on its own initiative.
