The First Amendment Coalition welcomes Kathleen Morgen as its first philanthropy director, responsible for leading the nonprofit organization’s fundraising program.
Morgen joins FAC at a critical time, as the 35-year-old nonprofit has steadily increased its revenue, staff, and impact, launching new programs to empower and protect journalists and others. She will oversee all of FAC’s donor outreach and stewardship, with the goal of attracting transformative gifts to sustain and further advance FAC’s mission of defending free speech, a free press, and the public’s right to government information.
“Kathleen is a proven leader and passionate champion of our cause,” said David Snyder, FAC’s Executive Director. “She is central to FAC’s continued growth and will work closely with our board of directors, staff, and dedicated community of supporters to ensure our continued growth and impact.”
Morgen brings more than 30 years of experience to the role. As Principal at Proven Fundraising Solutions, she raised millions of dollars and provided essential services annually for her clients, including Mayers Memorial Hospital Foundation, Ritsona Refugee Camp in Greece, Breathe California, and the Sogan Foundation in Tibet.Morgen previously served as Vice President of Philanthropy for Open Medicine Foundation and Director of Development for Santa Rosa Symphony, California Shakespeare Festival, and the American Lung Association of Santa Clara County, supporting growth, strengthening infrastructure, and deepening relationships with their constituents.
Morgen is a great believer in and inspired by the power of philanthropy, having seen the impact on both the giver and receiver. She lives with her husband of 42 years and three rescue pets in rural Northern California. She is proud to have provided complimentary consultations to nonprofits nationwide and internationally.
