The First Amendment Coalition is pleased to welcome Monica Price as its next legal fellow.
In this role, Price will work directly with journalists and others to help them access public records and government meetings, while also contributing to a range of First Amendment and open-government litigation.
“We are thrilled to welcome Monica to the team,” said FAC Executive Director David Snyder. “Her legal experiences and passion for our mission make her a great asset to our organization as we tackle the ever-increasing threats to government transparency, free expression and a free press.”
The legal fellow participates in Access Democracy, a partnership between FAC and the Lookout Santa Cruz newsroom to provide training, open-government counseling and pro bono legal representation that supports government-accountability reporting.
Price has a B.A. in cognitive science and political science from UC Berkeley and earned her J.D. from the UC Hastings College of the Law. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for Justice Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court and was president of the UC Hastings American Constitution Society. She also interned with the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Complex and Affirmative Litigation Division at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office.
Price’s research interests include police accountability, civil liberties and internet access.
She is a member of the California Bar.
