FAC is pleased to announce the recent election of two first amendment attorneys to its board of directors.
Jean-Paul Jassy, a partner in the law firm Jassy Vick Carolan, has often worked with FAC on First Amendment cases. Most recently he represented FAC in a case against the LA County Sheriff for access to visitor logs for one of the LA jail’s high-profile inmates, John Noguez, the embattled LA County Assessor who faces multiple felony counts for bribery, embezzlement and related public corruption charges. The case resulted in changing the County Jail’s policy when requested visitor logs are related to public officials,
Mr. Jassy, who lives in Los Angeles, also has taught First Amendment and media law at UC Irvine School of Law, Univ. of Southern California Law School, Southwestern Univ. School of Law.
Scott Lindlaw is intellectual property attorney with the Orrick law firm in Palo Alto. He is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, 2011 and was a legal intern with FAC as a law student.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. Lindlaw was a reporter for The Associated Press. He served for four years as an AP White House correspondent, covering President George W. Bush’s first term; was part of a team nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for disaster coverage; and won The Associated Press Managing Editors Award for a series on Pat Tillman, the former NFL player killed by his fellow Army Rangers in Afghanistan. Mr. Lindlaw also reported on the criminal and civil trials of O.J. Simpson.
Mr. Lindlaw and Mr. Jassy were elected to two-year terms on FAC’s board of directors.
