FAC sent the following letter to Joseph Larmour, County Counsel for Shasta County, on behalf of Shasta Scout regarding the county’s refusal to release the federal grand jury subpoena of Clint Curtis, the county’s Registrar of Voters. The county cited the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure in its denial.
FAC’s letter explains why the Federal Rule of Criminal Procedure does not exempt the county from releasing the subpoena, noting that the rule authorized federal, not county, courts to seal its own records.
