FAC Objects to Inglewood’s Attempt to Ban Individuals from Public Meetings

FAC demanded that Inglewood rescind an unlawful ban on attending future city council meetings due to alleged disruption of a previous meeting. The city issued the ban to an organizer with Black Lives Matter Los Angeles and two family members and a supporter of Bryan Bostic who had protested his death in Inglewood police custody. The city then withdrew the ban, but only on the ground that it planned to give “one last warning about the rules of decorum.” As FAC explained, the Brown Act and First Amendment prohibit banning people from future meetings due to their past conduct regardless of how much notice is given about rules of decorum.
