FAC joined the Committee to Protect Journalists, Free Press and a coalition of civil society and press freedom organizations in continued advocacy, expressing deep concerns over the continued detention of journalist Mario Guevara by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement and to urge ICE to quickly move to release him.
Guevara, a Spanish-language digital reporter, has been in detention for two months after his June arrest while livestreaming a protest in an Atlanta, Georgia suburb. He was transferred to ICE custody after the agency issued a detainer against the journalist, who has authorization to work in the United States.
