One month after a high-profile pursuit and shootout with San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies in September 2022 that ended with the deaths of Anthony Graziano and his 15-year-old daughter Savannah, independent reporter Joey Scott asked the sheriff’s department to disclose copies of all audio and video recordings of the incident. Scott was investigating the sheriff’s claim that Savannah may have participated in shooting at the deputies.
For almost 18 months, the sheriff’s department refused to release the recordings. Only after FAC sent a letter demanding release in December 2023 did the department finally disclose them on March 29, 2024. As reported in this story by Scott and Sam Levin, the newly released footage shows how deputies “fatally shot an unarmed 15-year-old girl who was a reported kidnapping victim.”
