Laws restricting drag queen shows shake free expression

At least seven states are considering laws to restrict drag queen shows often by defining the shows as pornography. The shows would be classified as adult business barring access by teenagers. (The Atlantic, January 20, 2023, by Conor Friedersdorf)

The laws are a backlash against drag queen story events in public libraries and hostility toward drag performances. The laws would put the clamps on artistic expression, hurt the trans community and prevent many productions with cross dressing key to the plot as in the comedy Tootsie.
