Supreme Court sparring with media over ‘partisan hack’ label

Lawyer and reporter Katie Barlow, Politico, August 17, 2021, said that Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett went awry in criticizing the media for not reporting on the deliberative process in the court. Conservative justices are antsy about media portrayals of the court as “partisan hacks,” but the court could do much to improve their image and promote understanding of court processes by allowing cameras for oral arguments, bringing transparency to the shadow docket, giving public notice of justices’ appearances and keeping their comments on the public record.

Dahlia Lithwick, Slate, September 15, 2021, notes that the Supreme Court is routinely sidelined as with the Barrett speech about the unfair media.
Barrett did not provide a transcript or video of her speech or even announce she was making the speech.

Reacting to criticism over the veiled court decision to allow a Texas abortion law to take effect, Justice Clarence Thomas claimed the court was nonpartisan and that justices set their personal preferences aside in deciding cases. (Fox News, September 16, 2021, by Brie Stimson)

  • Take all of the Roberts Court decisions and I dare you not to see the trend for partisanship, racism and fascism.
There is an inequity in justice in this nation now. There has been an absence of holding for individual rights, for free and fair elections but an abundance of hits by yes partisan hacks on the Roberts court to dismantle voting rights, to allow for election rigging and thus cheating and for nullification of the vote making a farce of the concept of any republic for and by the people. If these implanted some illegitimate judges want to not be called partisan hacks they might try applying equal justice under the law and actual law instead of legislating partisan crap from the bench.
