Koch brothers’ dark money suffers setback in adverse Ninth Circuit ruling

A nonprofit began by Charles and David Koch must disclose its list of donors to law enforcement authorities in California, a three judge panel of the Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled unanimously. The judge found little credibility to the claim the confidential disclosure to state authorities would chill the donors’ speech. (Politico, September 11, 2018, by Josh Gerstein)

The nonprofit, Americans for Prosperity Foundation, plans to appeal the decision saying it “imperils people’s First Amendment” rights to free speech and association. The foundation provides political muscle for the Koch brothers by funneling “dark money” to support conservative causes. (The Hour, September 11, 2018, by Michelle Ye Hee Lee of The Washington Post)
