Facebook plans boost to news industry with Facebook Journalism Project

After the adverse fallout over fake news on Facebook, the company has launched a journalism project that includes an initiative to train the public to find trustworthy news sources and fight fake news on its site. Facebook is initially teaming with The Washington Post and Vox Media but will soon include The New York Times and other news outlets.  (The New York Times, January 11, 2017, by Mike Issac)

A Facebook director also said that they are planning to make grants to news agencies addressing news literacy and will help organizations working on the problem of fake news including the Water Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State.
