Transparency in local police complaint data gaining ground

With the White House Police Data Initiative and other local and non-governmental projects in place, there are signs that transparency is coming to local police misconduct. President Barack Obama began the transparency push in 2014 with a study that resulted in the Police Data Initiative, and now 129 communities have responded to adopt open data policies and practices as a way to build community trust and accountability regarding police activity.
