Free speech on the chopping block in attacks on Jewish journalists

A new report from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) reveals that during the current election season almost 800 journalists received some 19,000 anti-Semitic tweets. Ten writers received the bulk of the tweets. The tweets often included references to the Holocaust and the concentration camps, one such tweet reading, “Don’t mess with our boy Trump or you will be first in line for the camp.” (The Atlantic, October 19, 2016, by Emma Green)

The ADL’s Jonathan Greenblatt credits Donald Trump with establishing an atmosphere  conducive to the anti-Semitism and sees evidence of  “coordinated, intentional and deliberate efforts to target and silence” journalists on Twitter, a significant threat to free speech.  (Mashable, October 19, 2016, by Rebecca Ruiz)
