Politico errs in submitting advance copy to Democrats

Politico owned up to sending a copy of an article to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) before publication. They claimed there was no substantial changes made to the article,
“Clinton fundraising leaves little for state parties.” The information about the prior review came to light as Wikileaks released over 19,000 DNC e-mails last week. (The Huffington Post, July 24, 2016, by Michael Calderone)

Politico released a statement that it was within its policy to check facts and figures with sources, in this case “some very technical language and figures involving the DNC’s joint fundraising agreement with the Clinton campaign.” But Politico also said it was a violation of its policy to share the entire article with the DNC.
