Reporter sues for Clinton e-mails recovered from her private server

Vice reporter Jason Leopold filed a federal lawsuit for copies of e-mails from former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s private server. Leopold is only seeking e-mails relating to work rather than personal e-mails. The use of private e-mail systems for government business has been criticized for putting sensitive information at risk and for violating transparency rules. ProPublica recognized Leopold’s work recently conducting a podcast interview with him on his Freedom of Information Act requests. Leopold has enjoyed some success in extracting records including some concerning the military’s abuse of Guantanamo Bay detainees. (ProPublica, December 9, 2015, by Cynthia Gordy)
