San Diego lawyer challenges inewsource over allegations

The Law firm of  San Diego environmental attorney Cory Briggs subpoenaed inewsource’s Lorie Hearn seeking information on a story about a conflict-of -interest investigation of Briggs. Last week a non-profit associated with Briggs filed a lawsuits against Hearn and inewsource over the lease for office space inewsource has with San Diego State. Hearn thinks the legal actions are in retaliation over inewsource investigations of alleged conflict of interest involving Briggs and his wife. Documents show that that while with Briggs’ law firm, his wife was also working for a consulting firm that worked for local governments that Briggs sued. Briggs has often clashed with San Diego on public records issues and now finds himself a target in actions seeking disclosures concerning his legal activities. Briggs answered inewsource allegations of conflict of interest saying that he and his wife a had taken steps to avoid conflicts and there was nothing illegal or unethical about any of their dealings.
