Climate scientist fights conservative press with defamation suit

Michael Mann won a battle in court when a District of Columbia court dismissed the National Review’s SLAPP complaint.  Reviled by conservatives for allegedly manufacturing fake support for the climate change theory, the Penn State professor has felt it necessary to defend himself against the most extreme attacks most recently in his defamation lawsuit against the National Review. Mann was suing the National Review for excerpting a blog from the Competitive Enterprise Institute by Rand Simberg, “Mann could be said to be the Jerry Sandusky of climate science except that instead of molesting children, he has molested and tortured data in the service of politicized science that could have dire economic consequences for the nation and planet.” (Yale Alumni Magazine, March/April 2013, by Neela Banerjee)
