Spy drones emerging from cloak of secrecy

PBS revealed in their NOVA series, Rise of the Drones, that the U.S. government can employ ARGUS-IS in a drone capable of tracking individual movements in a medium size city. Part of the program is still under wraps, writes Jay Stanley in a February 21, 2013 commentary for the American Civil Liberties Union.

The American press faces a major challenge in obtaining information about not only killer drones used to assassinate terrorists in foreign countries but also about drones used by law enforcement agencies to uncover private information about citizens on the ground.
