Opinion: Pitfalls ahead for newspapers going online

Newspapers have traditionally provided vital public service as watchdogs of government agencies, but as advertising dollars disappear, they are curtailing print and going online. They can still provide vital coverage of government so long as they keep their public service ethic alive and avoid becoming “click whores,” writes David Horsey for the Los Angeles Times.
