On April 18, 2010, The First Amendment Coalition (FAC) filed suit against the city of Calabasas to compel disclosure of an inspection report on conditions in an unoccupied residential property potentially posing health risks to nearby residents. The city, despite repeated requests, has refused to release a copy of the report to a neighbor, Gail Reznik, and other local residents who are concerned about toxic mold contamination found in the derelict property.
FAC and Reznik are co-petitioners in the lawsuit, filed yesterday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, alleging that Calabasas violated the California Public Records Act (CPRA) in refusing to disclose the inspection report and related records. (Read the full press release)
