Klan loses free speech case over distributing flyers in Missouri town streets

The 8th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals rejected a bid by the American Civil Liberties Union and Ku Klux Klan to allow the Klan to distribute flyers on public streets. The Court found that public safety transcended free speech rights even though  there were no accidents as Klan members in robes and hoods approached cars. The Klan may still use sidewalks to distribute their messages about the evils of Muslim law and bad effects of methamphetamine on the “white race.” The Klan had argued that the city was practicing content discrimination since children using the streets to solicit money for a school trip were not arrested.
