Federal court rules against policeman protesting arrest quotas

A New York policeman who criticized the quota system for arrests lost his case in federal district court.

The man claimed the police department violated his First Amendment rights by retaliating against him for criticizing the quota system to commanding officers, but the judge ruled that under the Supreme Court ruling Garcetti v. Ceballos pubic employees have no free speech rights in the context of their official duties.-db
